Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
We celebrate the individuality of all our pupils and strive to provide high quality education that meets the needs of every child. Our school has a trained special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO) who works with children and their families to ensure that pupils can access their learning and meet their potential.
We also have a school governor who is dedicated to overseeing the SEND provision in school. SEND provision is regularly monitored by the school governors.
The SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Local Offer provides information for children, young people and their parents/carers in a single place, helping them to understand what services they can expect from a range of local agencies.
The aim of the local offer is to improve choice and transparency for families about the services they use. It is also an important tool for professionals to use, as it allows them to understand the full range of services and provision in the local area. By setting this information out in one place, this helps the joint commissioning of services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
The Local Authority must work together with children, young people, parents, carers and other local services to develop their offer and keep it under review. The North Yorkshire version of the Local Offer is available on-line, click here to access.
